photoAbout Meg Zirm Everingham

Classically trained in ballet, Meg Zirm Everingham translates her love of movement to teaching yoga, Pilates, Balleticise™  & barre work. A student of Yoga & Pilates for nearly 15 years, she believes in living a wholly natural, healthy “yoga life.”   Through the study of Ayurveda & this yogic lifestyle Meg has built an extensive knowledge of holistic nutrition.  Fusing her classical training, knowledge & love of motion, Meg strives to empower her clients through the freedom & strength of mind-body movement & wellness.

Meg began teaching movement in 1996.  It was through the dance world that she was first introduced to both yoga & Pilates.  She is a certified Pilates instructor through Balanced Body University. Meg emphasizes that the strength and center of any movement begin at the body’s core.   Through Pilates she has seen transformations in her clients & experienced pain-management, flexibility, tone & strength.  Meg uses her extensive experience to transfer the form & method of Pilates in order to empower her clients through movement.

Certified in Yoga and a 200 Registered Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Alliance, Meg received her yoga teacher training at the YogaLife Institute in Wayne, PA.   She has continued her studies through her strong home practice as well as studying under teachers in NYC, Philadelphia & beyond.  Meg’s creative yoga style grew it’s roots from Classical, Hatha yoga & draws from her studies in Ayurveda, Vinyasa, Yin, & Kundalini.  She enjoys teaching yoga to practitioners of all levels as well as pre & post natal clients.

Meg organizes & enjoys teaching yoga & Pilates at retreats.  She has teamed up with the great people of Good Commons in Vermont for several of their group retreats & co-hosted their first Women’s Entrepeneur Weekend there in the fall of 2011.   There are plans for more retreats planned for 2012 in VT, NY and NJ so stay tuned!

From her ballet background Meg developed a fusion of ballet & Pilates called Balleticise®.  Combining isometric, ballet movements with Pilates & barre work, this class aims to lengthen & strengthen bodies into those of dancers (no tutus required)!   She uses this as a foundation while teaching various barre classes online & in studios.   In the summer of 2010 Meg was honored to teach Balleticise ® at the prestigious Chautauqua Institution.  Meg is in the process of creating a Balleticise ® DVD & web videos.

With a strong belief in giving back Meg practices karma yoga by volunteering to teach yoga to populations under-served or without access to yoga or Pilates.  It was a great joy for Meg to be a part of the Gilda's Club of SJ organization while living at the shore.

Outside of teaching in-studio & online Meg can be found enjoying the outdoors, cooking & writing.  She currently lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband & cairn terrier, Scrappy.
